Not on Sundays

The bike race Giro d’Italia began this year in The Netherlands. From Amsterdam they rode to Utrecht and then to the South in 3 stages. This Sunday they were around Utrecht, Amersfoort and Soest. Part of the circuit is around small and very religious cities.

Who comes to The Netherlands and visit Amsterdam has no idea how much traditional and conservative some places here can be. A good example was the Giro d’Italia. The circuit of the tour couldn’t cross some cities. They have to surround them because it was Sunday and this is God’s Day. No work, no fun is allowed!


Este ano a corrida de bicicletas Giro d’Italia começou na Holanda. De Amsterdam a Utrecht e depois para o Sul, o Tour teve 3 estágios da corrida aqui nos Países Baixos. Este Domingo passado eles circularam por Utrecht, Amersfoort e Soest. Parte desse circuito cobre cidades pequenas e extremamente religiosas.

Quem vem à Holanda e visita Amsterdam não imagina quão tradicionais e conservativos alguns desses lugares podem ser. Um bom exemplo disso aconteceu durante o Giro d’Italia. O circuito do tour teve que ser desviado e circular estas cidades, sem passar por dentro delas, porque o Domingo é de Deus. Sem trabalho e sem diversão!
